Member Aircraft

SEQSAC members are a very diverse group of flyers, with a variety of aircraft. Here we feature just a few.

21 January 2017 - Geoff Carr

Flew my RV-8 for the first time today, just before the weather set in. Everything went smoothly, a few small glitches, such as the elevator trim decided to stop working as soon as I got airborne. Everything else worked perfectly, airplane is very smooth and very fast, and the engine temperatures which tend to be a problem with new airplanes, were absolutely perfect even though I was using a high power setting. Only 39.5 hours to go.

Cessna 195A
VH-KES

This Cessna 195A (Serial 7509) was manufactured in the US in 1950 and registered in Australia in March 1993. The aircraft has a Jacobs 7 cylinder engine and cruises at about 130 knots.

The aircraft was originally marketed by Cessna as an "Executive Business Liner" and when imported was mostly polished aluminium with a decorated Varga girl as nose art. In about 1998 its original avionics, lockable tailwheel and other bits and pieces were installed. The aircraft is a joy to fly, always attracts attention and really takes one back to what post war civil flying was about.

Interestingly, I still have all the documentation since 1950 (even original test flight notes and first ferry flight to the new owner in California).
